Kroger Private Selection

As a Bzzagent, I receive these three products as samples, for free to try and give my opinion.  I got 3 coupons to pick three "Private Selection" frozen dish at Fry's.  I decided to save those dishes for our little New Year's celebration.  I picked the Quiches, the Chicken Barbeque Pizza and the Creme Puffs.
All of them were really good.
I love all three kinds of quiches (Spinach was my favorite, Regular had mushrooms on the bottom instead of lards, but I like that better and the mushroom was my least).  They cooked very fast in my toaster oven, which was better than heating a big over.  The crust was perfect.  The cost was around $7, too much for me, that's over $1 a piece!!!
The Pizza was really good too. It had a little kick to it. The crust was good.  The price was also too high, because it's really small. It says 3 servings on the box, but frankly, this is America and one of those would feed one big good American!!!
The Puffs were good and creamy.  I just let them thaw out on the counter, I don't see another way of doing it.  There are 30 per box, and they too were around $7, but for those, it's quite average.
All in all, the Private Selection from Kroger earns a 4 star from me, because of its high price. I think if the price is the same as a non store brand, people will always pick the brand name over a store name, that's a guarantee!

Me want cookies

I got these cookies in the mail from being a BzzAgent and thus got them for free, to try them and give them a review.  They have been long gone but it took me a while to write about them.  They were just plain old dumb chocolate chip cookies, nothing to write town about actually. Alex put them in the microwave and said they were really good like that, but I didn't get a chance to try that since, well, I have 5 kids and a husband and the box only holds a total of probably 15 to 20 cookies- you gotta be fast here if you want more than ONE cookie!  I like them enough to eat them though, don't get me wrong of course.  I have no idea how much they could cost at the store, which would really determine wither or not I would buy them again.  I'd say they're better than Chips A'Hoy, but mainly because they're bigger, so you have more than two bites.  So all in all, if you want a hard cookie, not at all home made, these will do...

Style Find Review

I signed up for that website through Bzzagent.com, so it was free.  It is a website that lets you get high end clothes for much cheaper, under $100...but if you know me, you know I'm a Target clearance kind of gal, and I don't care about brand names, so hmm, yeah, not for me at all!  However, feel free to click on their link on the bottom of my blog.

Looks like it doesn't take you anywhere, hmmm...

Book Review for Blogging for Book: Plain Wisdom = Plain boring

I recieved this book for review through Blogging for books a few months ago.  I started it, got bored and put it down. I waited, then tried again, but I just couldn't do it! I didn't blog about it for ever because I tried to give myself more time to read it to give it a fair review...but I now realize that if I don't read a whole book because it's boring to me, then my review should state just that! The book never gripped me, it was lacking what a good book should have: something to make you want to keep reading, something that makes you want to know what is going to happen next.  I just didn't get that.  I thought I would be interested in reading about the subject of an Amish woman meeting a modern woman, and I'm sure the subject is still interesting, I just hated the way it was written.  I never enjoy a book that has two whole stories, that presumably will converge into one (I don't know in this case, I never had the courage to keep on reading!), and this one has just that: the modern woman's life, then the amish one, but blahhh for me. It's hard to give a bad review because no matter what, I know how much work was put into this book, but this is how I feel about this book and I must be true to my opinion.

One quick trip, but not too shabby, huh!

CVS 6/21, paid $1.73, saved 98%

Today, I did 4 transactions. This allows me to roll my Extra Bucks and minimize my out of pocket.
Don't get me wrong, my head hurts after doing CVS, it'd be much easier to do one transaction, but then I'd end up with a lot of EB and a lot of out of pocket.
My total before tax was $1.73 and I earned 15 EB for next time!!!!
And if these transactions give me a headache, well, I've got chocolate and Motrim there, so worth it :)
I recommend the blogs on the side (I heart CVS and Centsable) to see how to get that.

Bzz Report

See this blonde hair? I know, hard to tell if it's shiny or not, but I think it is!
My Bzz report is on TRESemme Color Revitalize.
I'm a Bzz Agent and recieved this product for free, to try it and give my opinion.
This is what I got:

I had to give myself a little grey coverage anyway, yes yes, I have greys, it's nice to be blonde coz you can't tell that much, but it's there. So off I go trying this new shampoo. I think it works pretty good, my color is staying put, but I have to admit it's hard not to stay blond in AZ in the summer at the pool all day. However, I'm satisfied with the quality of the product. If I had died my hair orange, I might be able to give it a better review. I'm not extremely excited about the smell of the shampoo and conditionner, I think TRESemme could have done much better in that categorie, thus a 4 star rating instead of 5.
The price is around $3.00, so with a coupon or two, it wouldn't be bad, it's a big bottle too.

Fry's Trip 5/28, saved 80%

So that you don't think I only shop at CVS or Walgreen's, I'm posting my last trip to Fry's this morning.

I spent $28.60
Saved $116.42
Used $10 off $50 Fresh and Easy
Used $10 off $100 at Fry's from Enteraintment Book

I combined Huggies manuf.qs with Basha's and Albertson's qs to get the wipe for .47cents and the diapers for less than $6.00 each (since Amazon doesn't have those great coupons anymore :((
The Kandoos were free, so were the Magnums
We got enough hot dogs for a while too.
These are actually luxuries, like the ice cream, but I can afford it :)

Some people starting on couponning will complain that this won't feed a family (although pizza and ice cream is dinner for me!).  You have to remember that shopping like this is always a work in progress.  I didn't get milk because you saw my previous post on milk at Basha's (and yes, you can freeze milk).  I might not buy meat, because it's cheaper somewhere else.  I don't need pasta because I stocked up a previous time, and so forth.  You have to have patience to build your supplies.  My freezers are too full now, so I must hold off for now though!

My toddler's reaction to the Pull-ups with Woody and Buzz on it: "No, I don't wannnnoooo"...so glad he's so willing to get potty trained!!!

CVS again

I got an email from CVS with a $5.00 off $25.  So I went to get the Sun Lotion on sale.  I scanned my CVS card and got a 5EB from the Beauty Club (for every $50 you spend - before qs- you get 5EB).  So with all that, I bought 4 lotions for $3.96 + tax and earned 10 EB for next time.
When is the last time you got paid to buy sun lotion ;)))

So far this year at CVS alone, I've saved almost $800 and spent $120, that's 88%.  All of my CVS buys are cosmetics and toiletteries for the most part.

The make-up was all free with coupons, the soap and the toothbrush too...wait, actually, all of it was free, I only paid for taxes!!!
And I earned $12 Extra Bucks for next time!!!
And my hubby got to read almost an entire magazine while I was clipping away!

Kids Woot

Ever heard of them?  They have a daily deal for toys or kid related things.  I've bought a 4 books set with the Ping pen and the bag for 20 bucks thru them.  The catch: no returns.  See here to see what the woot is today.  I'll add this to my links of fun bargains.  I've been adding a lot of links, I hope it help my (few) readers, but it helps me to have it all organized in one place.

Free Sonic Corn Dog

If you get the Wednesday paper, there is a coupon for a free Corndog at Sonic, no purchase necessary, YEAH!!! It's in the "Buyer's edge".  If you just get the ads in the mail on Tuesday, it should be with those also!

Target Coupons

I love Target, love love love, I always find good clearance there. I don't think I ever bought anything full price, not for clothes for sure.  One great thing about Target, is that they have their own coupons that you can stack with a manufacturer coupons.  So for example, they have $5.00 off John Frieda Foam Coloring that you print online, and there is a $5.00 off q in the newspaper ads.  So combine both and the Foam Coloring that is priced around $12.00 ends up being $2.00.  And Fry's in AZ, will take competitor coupons, so you can do the same deal at Fry's!!!!
Here is the link for Target coupons.  So go Print away.  I'll add the link to the left too, for easy access (for me also, this is why I have this blog too, for easy access to good links).

CVS Trip 5/4, saved 95%

Here is what I got for $1.56.
I started with 7 EB and earned 5EB for the next time.
There are always some other deals at CVS that I can't get right away.  You can always get a raincheck, and it doesn't expire. I had one for the toothpaste that made if free for Aquafresh and .25cents for Colgate.  I have tons of adult toothpaste (no, it's not a naughty toothpaste, get your mind out of the gutter!), but it's hard to find deals on Kid's toothpaste.  Now I have plenty for about 5 years, since my kids never brush their teeth!!! They were out of the Ivory soap for free and some cleaning supplies for .50c, so I got rainchecks. You'll see some people that get all the deals every time: that's because they shop on Sunday first thing in the mornings, while I'm serving the Lord ;)))  I take my time and sometimes miss on some things, but I'm okay with that, I'm not extreme to the point of loading my kids up in the car in their pjs because Target has deodorant for .20 cents!

Some Freebies at Walmart

Walmart's coupon policy states that if the customer uses a coupon for more $ than the price of the item, they apply the overage to the total or even give you cash back.  The Similac was less than $4.00 and I had qs for $5.00 off.  The Splenda was an ad-match from Walgreens for $2.99 and my qs were for $3.00 each (and it came with a booklet of more qs).  The Allegra was $5.97 and I had $5.00 off, making them .97 cents each, but with the overage from the rest, free.  I have allergies soo bad, but no baby.  The formula will be donated to a good cause.

Maybelline SuperStay/ L'Oreal Eye Shadow

Here is one of the things you can get by being a BzzAgent.  You can review products and then write about it. Click on the icon on the left if you are interested.  Here is the review for these $10 each lipsticks.

I received four different colors for free from being a Bzz Agent, from Maybelline SuperStay.  I had never really paid attention to it before because I don't really wear lipstick, except on Sundays, maybe.  I wasn't super excited at the color choice they sent me, they looked rather dark for my style.  I am very surprised that all those colors are actually really nice, and not too much for me.  It is easy to put on, and really contours your lips where you wouldn't need a  lip crayon at all.  I gave it 4 stars because I don't especially like the dry feeling you experience once the first coat is on.  If you're a busy person, you might get distracted and forget to put the clear coat on and ending up with dry lips, that you can't even smack together! However, when I did forget, I was able to apply pretty much any other lipgloss over it and still keep the same effect.  I do like the clear coat that makes your lips shine.
You can really do anything with the lipstick on, including kissing! It does not smear on your baby's cheeks or your hubby's lips, really!
The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is also because I don't believe it's quite 24 hours!  I admit that some mornings, when I'd wipe my lips really well on a napkin, I could still get some color out, but nothing that was noticealbe on my actuall lips. It does last a long time, all day even, which is a great plus for someone like me who doesn't ever reapply make up during the day.  I'm not sure I'd spend the $10 for it, it seems a bit pricey for a Maybelline Lip gloss, but again, it also seems to be right along the prices of comparable brands. I'm just cheap!

Now onto another product I got from Bzzagent.
L'Oreal One Sweep Eye Shadow and Illuminator Mascara

I got both products in the mail.  I hadn't hear of the illuminator mascara before, but I was soooo excited to get the one sweep eye shadow.  However, I was dissappointed by it!  The effect is very very subbtile, you can't even tell it's on.  I got the one for green eyes, I think, which is perfect. But I sometimes have to redo the dark bottom part with an extra coat.  I've seen Almay with the same idea but three seperate shadow, I think it might be better so that you can decide how heavy or light you go.  However, it's very easy and I used it all the time. I'm not a big make up person, but I do wear eye make up everyday.  I'd give the shadow a 3 stars.
However, the Mascara was a 5 stars!!! I was skeptical when I saw that the wand wasn't curved, I didn't think I'd get good results, but it is really great. It does make your eyelashes curve and think and long.  The illuminator part it fun, you have to apply quite a bit for it to be noticeable, but it's cute.  The one downside of the illumination: you see stars yourself!  Once in a while, you see a little sparkle, and no, you're not fainting, it's your mascara!

And how much do I save?

Here is the total of my savings since I started keeping track and getting more serious about couponning.  I started in early December:
Total savings:   $4,900
Total coupons: $1,365
Total spent:     $1,140
% saved:   77%
This is for everything, I save even more on diapers and didn't include it.

CVS Trip 4/14, saved 85%

Make sure you scan your card before you shop. Mine printed an extra 5EB and .25off M&Ms which I needed.
I thus started with 8.99 EB from last time, plus 5EB printed, plus $5 off $30 with email.  Sign up with CVS to receive some perks with Extra Care cards. You'll receive a $4 off $20 through Email just for signing up.
Here is something to consider when you get all your "freebies": you still pay taxes on everything!
Yesterday, I had spent $13.00 on all that stuff...but was charged tax on full price, so $6.00. So if you think about it, it's almost 50% tax!  So when I see free toothpaste, I pass lately, because I have enough and I know that I'll end up paying .30cents or so on tax on my free toothpaste, which ultimately might end up in the trash or smeared across someones car (prank?).  However, for food, there is no or very little tax, so I don't pass on that.
So I spent $19 and earned $17EB for my next trip.

Apr 7, 2011

Walgreens, 4/7,

Here is less than $10, saved 84%
I'm not sure how much longer I'll do the Walgreen's deals, it's quite complicated because of their coupon policy.  You cannot have more coupons than you have items, but they count the RR as a coupon. So when you think you're paying with an RR, it's actually a coupon. That's why you have to get "fillers", like candies to count as an item.  I guess I still save a lot there, I haven't found the personel at my store over joyous with my couponning habits, I keep smiling and all, but I have my limits.  We'll see...I'm cheap and probably will keep torturing myself just to get a good deal!
Details:
Pures is on sale for $1.99 with add q, and there is a q in the Sunday adds, so .99 cents/each
Venus is $7.99, with a 4RR and a $2 q in the adds
Kotex was 2/7, with a 3RR and 2x $1/2 q printable
Tape was $1.5 with add, $1/1 q printable
Candies were my fillers, for 39cents/each.
Earned 3RR for next time
There is a killer deal for Almay: they have in-store q for $2.00 off that you can combine with $2.00 manu.  All Almay is 40% off.  My @@%^ store wouldn't take both qs, so I'll go somewhere else!!!!

This is where I look up for coupons: pinchingyourpennies

Basha's Fun

I got all this for $25, with $1.00 off my next order. (Savings around 75%). I've done better at Fry's, but not when you need produce too.  They're having great deals on produce alone, so if you don't do coupons, at least ad match with Walmart for their produce, or go there.

But here is the tip of the day : DO NOT BE AFFRAID!  When you do your coupons, you have to watch it closely.  I had tought the I'd get free milk with 3 boxes of cereal.  When I saw that it wasn't the deal, I gave it back to the cashier, having the girl dig for them in my bags.  Then I had to return some water because it was wrong also, and then realized he had charged me too much for something else. So it was a long check-out! With lots of people behind me!  The deal is that you need to be Scrooge and make sure you get your pennies worth, a few $ make a big difference, so get your money's worth!  Smile at people behind you, thank the cashier for his patience and help!

The Entertainment books have tons of coupons.  A lot of them are for restaurants (BOGO), but they have 4 Fry's coupons for $10 off (one expired on 3/31, but you can print one online).  I even used their link to book my flight to Belgium this summer and got $25 off (not a whole lot considering the total price of the ticket, but better than nothing).  Check it out here

CVS Trip 4/4

I did okay, could've done better, but I was running low on toilet paper.  It's hard to find great deals on TP, that drives me nuts!  This was still cheaper than buying it at Sam's Club.

I started with $13.50 EB, $4.00 email Coupon and my Winter savings of $1.50 EB.  Make sure you scan your card at leat twice before you shop, you might get more coupons.  The winter savings started printing out on April 1st.  I don't spend tons there, so I don't get much back.

I did 3 transactions this time, I kinda messed up thinking one thing was part of the deal, but it wasn't.  Anyway, I'm still learning.

Goldwash $3.88 after $2/1 q, earn 3 EB -> .88cents
Toothbrush $.99 after $2/1 q, earn .99EB -> free
Oral B floss $2.74 after $.75/1 q, earn 2.5 EB -> .24 cents

3 Dove dishsoap $1.72 after 3xq, part of spend $30 get 10EB
Sofsoap Refill $7.50 after 3x $.50/1 q, earn 3 EB ->$1.5 each

Total Out of Pocket: $12.57

Sears Match

Sear's matches the price you find on-line for appliances and beats it by 10% of the difference.  I bought a new over range. I looked for the cheapest on-line, then called Sears.  They matched the price, gave me the extra 10% of the difference between the site and their price.  Then gave me free delivery the next day, and the guys installed it and checked it all.  Best deal in town.  I use http://www.shopzilla.com/ to find the cheapest deals, works for me.

Best price for brand name diapers

I whish I had known this a while ago, but better late than never. Here is what you do:

Search for the size and type of diapers you want. It will show you a full price, and a "Subscribe and Save" price. Choose that price and sign up for the the Amazon Mom club. This will give you a 30% discount on the diapers.

It might also give you an option for another random coupon, click that.

If you feel this is a great deal, than stop there. Make sure you unsubscribe from the club before the next shipment, unless you like the convienience of the auto delivery. You will still get the diapers at that price. You can have another "subcribe and save" for wipes, one for another type of diapers and so on. All of your subscriptions are different and you can cancel at anytime. With that, you get 2 day FREE shipping, and are part of the Amazon Prime and get free 2 day shipping on everything.

NOW:

If you want more savings, get coupons. Parents Magazine (get it for 12months for $1.00, http://www.bn.com/ with code K4M8W9D), Baby magazines that you get from BabysRus or take them from Doctors' offices'magazines (ask first, but they usually don't mind) has &10 off or 20% Amazon Baby in their magazines often. But, if you don't have a magazine with the coupon, you can buy one on ebay (do a search "amazon mom coupon"), less savings but still worth it. I bought one for $2.35, recieved the code within minutes. Now, the coupons you get from Parents have a letter assigned to them. I purchased a Y coupon. Had I been able to find another letter coupon, like a YTcoupon, I could have used that one on top, another 20% savings. You can use up to three coupons. You can stack those % coupons with one $10 off. Once you get the code, just copy it on your order with Amazon and off you go! Here is what I have done

172 count Pampers$40.88 Free shipping - 30% $12.26 discount -20% $8.18 eBay coupon -$1.50 Amazon Coupon + $2.35 eBay coupon

Total $21.29

720 Pampers Wipes

30% discount, makes them $13.43 -$10 coupon

Total: $3.43 with free 2day shipping

172 Pampers size 5 (I unsubscribed from my previous Subscribe and Save order for Pampers and re-subscribed right away in order to use the Coupons)

30% off discount makes them $31.39 - 20% Coupon (bought on Ebay) -$10 Coupon

Total $17.45

Confused? Ask me more ;)

Good luck...I haven't found a coupon that will include the free diaper changing, I still have to do that!
